Le Corti Chianti Classico 2006, Sangiovese Wine

Le Corti Chianti Classico 2006, Sangiovese Wine

Origin: Italy - Chianti
Characteristics: A classic, easy drinking Chianti. Bring on the spicy sauce or sliced salami. The nose is plenty fresh but still has typical forest floor and tobacco aromas. Generous fruitiness in the mouth and nicely balanced. A fresh red wine with good flavour. - LAC 3/22/2010

Bouchard Beaune Marconnets 2011
Characteristics: Bouchard Père & Fils 2011 Beaune Marconnets Premier Cru, Côte de Beaune | 12.5% | An outstanding domaine wine that is estate grown and made at the Château de Beaune at the heart of the Côte-d’Or of great character with wisps of pomegranate, the evocative and restorative fragrance of ferns caught right in their vernal yawning stretch at springtime, a bursting mouthful of crunchy red currants and a tenor timbre of woodsy spices both firm and warm. For all its immediate charms this intimate glimpse at Marconnets is more a crepuscular midsummer plunge in a lake than a warm midday soak of late Summer. It is a marvel to ponder and an even more rewarding wine in which one could simply engross oneself; it is a joy that consumes you, whose guiles you wish to be a part of and whose memory sustains you –perhaps even haunt you into a deeper faith in aesthetics and reliance on the reality that is terroir. For table talk, the name Marconnets is named for the Germanic tribe, the Macromans who lived in this northern most part of Beaune long ago in the 3rd century A.D.. Since 1791, Bouchard has farmed this 1er Cru of chalky marl to reveal every nuance Pinot Noir can translate from this fascinating parcel and the 2011 are drinking especially well –even now in their youth.

Drouhin Chorey-les-Beaune Rouge 2015
Characteristics: Joseph Drouhin 2012 Chorey-lès-Beaune, Bourgogne | 13% | Pinot Noir according to Chorey-lès-Beaune remains one of the best values out of Burgundy for everyday drinking –especially when it is made at the hands of the Drouhins. Biodynamic viticulture is de rigueur. A horse drawn plow prevents weeds. Integrated Pest Management prevents pest. Low yielding vines planted over 50 years ago ensure their wine bear a gout de terroir.

Just north of the city of Beaune between Savigny-lès-Beaune and Aloxe-Corton stretches the alluvial plain of the Saône River. The soils here are a mix of limestone, free draining sand and water retaining clay yielding Pinot Noir of the elegant and refreshing sort. Feminine in all its purity and clarity, from the glass this expresses light red cherries, bright blackberry notes, cranberries and mild tannins. It has a fair complexion overall with a scrumptious taste, a little spice and an appetizing bay leaf note at the finish. Was an absolute joy with juniper marinated back strap of venison seared and served rare –a tender wine for a tender cut.

Girardin Savigny-les-Beaune Serpentieres 2015
Characteristics: Vincent Girardin 2009 Savigny-les-Beaune Serpentières, Côte de Beaune | 13.5% | Delicious wine from 50 year old vines of Pinot Noir on the Premier Cru climat of Les Serpentières. The village of Savigny-les-Beaune is located in the Côte de Beaune, a couple miles north of the village of Beaune. The wine area of Savigny-les-Beaune is one of the oldest of Burgundy and a lot of parcels belonged to the Dukes of Burgundy and to the Abbeys of Citeaux and Maizières. "Les Serpentières" is located at the opposite of the Marconnets' plot and here the soil are chalky with stones and gravels a bit of clay. In 228 liter French oak barrels of which 15% are new, malolactic fermentation takes place and the wine is then aged 14 months, and then bottled without fining or filtration following the moon calendar. A wine with plenty of fruit with well integrated structure, this is full and round, very long and charming start to finish. In terms of food pairings, this is versatile but for starters think starters, pâtés, white and red meat.
