Paetra Gewurztraminer Van Duzer Corridor 2018
Characteristics: Concentrated Chehalem Mountain Riesling from the single vineyard "Nicholas" comprised of silt on basalt that winemaker Bill Hooper credits for its thick skins and potency. Fragrant and exotic with a glorious spice I've never had this side of the Vosges. Another cracking wine from this upcoming winegrower handcrafting Riesling in this superlative category in which the fruit is in the best condition and every step of the craft is minimal but the most mindful. I am a thorough fan.
Wine review by Nicholas Livingston, September 3rd, 2015

"This dry Single Vineyard Nicholas Riesling was produced by hand-sorting in the vineyard only the ripest and healthiest bunches. The silt-over-basalt soils bring thick skins and an enormous concentration of tropical fruit flavors and aromas. The wine fermented at cool temperatures for over eight months without the addition of cultured yeast in neutral oak barrels. It will reward many years of cellaring. Only 45 cases produced."

Roserock Pinot Noir 6/750 2015
Characteristics: Roserock Pinot Noir Eola-Amity Hills
From their LIVE-certified sustainable estate Roserock Pinot Noir is a cuvée selection from the estate’s 35 blocks, which are handpicked, sorted and individually fermented. While Pinot Noirs from the Eola-Amity Hills are typically known for their structure and power, Véronique Drouhin emphasizes Roserock’s elegant and refined qualities, making for a delicious and ageworthy cuvée. “The Pinot Noir was aged for 11 months in approximately 20% French Oak. There wasn’t any whole cluster used during fermentation, and we were very excited to ferment each block separately to better understand the personality of each parcel. Roserock Pinot Noir has a lovely, deep red color. The nose is floral, spicy and beautiful, with an intense, savory, character. On the palate, there are notes of dark berry preserves, a touch of caramel, black cherry, dried flowers, and tilled earth. There is clear structure and balance, with good mouth weight and a long finish. I expect that we will be enjoying this wine for 7-10 years, or more, but it offers a lot now.” We couldn’t agree more.

Tablas Creek Cotes de Tablas Blanc 2017
Characteristics: Tablas Creek 2012 Esprit de Tablas Blanc, Paso Robles | 24% Viognier, 30% Marsanne, 30% Grenache Blanc, 6% Roussanne | An organic estate wine from northern Rhône varieties Firm and fragrant –quite mineral in an upright structure| 100% stainless steel but on its lees until bottling lending a wonderful breadth and mouthfeel through the finish. Granache Blanc was never before seen or planted in the states before Tablas Creek brought it over and pioneered the variety from their nursery. Melon, orange, firm apricots and peaches, a gentle fragrance but certainly reflected on the palate. A truly elegant daresay French scope on a gifted, Biodynamically dry farmed plot of American soil –and an incredible wine.

Warre's Late Bottled Port 2002
Characteristics: Warre’s 2002 Bottle Aged Late Bottled Vintage Porto | 20% | Unlike most other Late Bottled Vintage Ports that are bottled and sold immediately once they have sent the required time in wooden cask, Warre’s is neither fined nor filtered but bottled with all the nuances that make this such a superlative LBV and it is then aged another four years in bottle to develop. A deep core thick skinned berries lift into a woodsy spice of pepper, cedar and sandalwood and curl about beneath a beautiful floral top note. Consistently the most vintage like LBV I taste each year and an example the other quintas ought to follow.
